Supporting young people to thrive

Young Children
Our strategy

Helping children and young people achieve their full potential

We focus our UK grant giving on helping children and young people achieve their full potential. Our strategy is rooted in long-term, flexible support for charities that make a measurable difference in two core areas: mental health and disadvantaged youth.

Our funding approach
We provide multi-year, often unrestricted grants. This gives charities the stability to plan ahead, invest in their teams and grow with confidence.

Our funding is proactive: we do not run an open application process. Instead, we seek out high-potential organisations that align with our priorities and provide them with the long-term support they need to succeed.

Where we focus
Our funding priorities reflect where the need is greatest:

• Mental health — focusing on children and young people, with an emphasis on early intervention and prevention. This includes support for eating disorders, which are often rooted in wider mental health challenges. We also fund work that tackles domestic abuse, recognising its significant and lasting impact on mental health.

• Disadvantaged youth — supporting charities that level the playing field by improving access to education, employment and opportunities.

Backing innovation and leadership
We take a catalytic, risk-tolerant approach. By supporting emerging and innovative charities — including pilot projects — we help test new models that have potential for wider impact. Our emphasis is on organisations with strong leadership, a clear evidence base and the ability to scale.

Working in partnership
Collaboration is central to how we fund. We often co-fund alongside other major trusts and foundations, building strong relationships that increase impact and ensure the charities we support have the resources they need to succeed.

Looking ahead
Our aim is not just to fund programmes but to build stronger charities that can deliver lasting change for young people. By combining stable funding with a willingness to back innovation, we aim to strengthen the wider ecosystem of youth and mental health services in the UK.
